Owned by
the National Trust for Scotland, the Estate is part of the
Cairngorms National Park and covers 29,340 hectares of some
of the most remote and scenic wild land in Scotland.
Within it's boundaries
are fine examples of classic features of Highland landscape:
remnants of the ancient Caledonian pine forest, heather moorland,
juniper scrub and spare a part of the high Cairngorm plateau.
Waters flowing from the mountains from the headwaters of the
River Dee internationally renowned as a pristine and important
habitat.
The estate includes land which has a number of national and
international natural heritage designations; a wealth of important
archaeological sites; and five listed buildings, including
the lodge itself.
