Alloa Tower, for generations the home of the Earls of Mar, is one of Scotland’s largest remaining 14th-century keeps./ Within its walks lie the rare remains of medieval dungeons, a well and massive oak-beamed roofs. Having survived turbulent times, it was transformed into an elegant, eminently comfortable 18th-century home, with interiors inspired by the grand palaces of Italy.

As guests make their way up and around the grand Italianate staircase, with its fabulous portraiture, the sense of expectation builds until they arrive in the Great Hall, a room of masterful design and impressive scale.
